    is it surveying equiment that you attach a target to and shoot lasers at to measure distance and level..osity?

    pipe and cable locator. you leave the base and lay the cord out and the end part says where crap is

    what kind of information would you need inside the pipe or whatever it goes in. location was a good guess but that wouldnt need input on the business end.

    is it fiber?

    does it go underwater?

    gas?

    It doesn't go inside of anything, it stands on it's own. The "business end" is not really for inputing data. It is for reading data.

    It is not fiber

    Does not go underwater

    By gas, do you mean is it a gas detector? If so, the answer is no.

    Looks like some kind of network testing tool. Does the tool require the spool to work, or will it work by plugging in an ethernet cable?
