My grandpa was very dapper. And he owned a sawmill.

    These are my grandpa's 'ho's.

My first job was at a sawmill, my Grandad got me on, good work if you can keep your fingers. Weyerhaeuser co. used to run the world's largest pine sawmill in my little town. In the early 30's there was a long bloody strike, Grandad had to get a temporary job,.. logging in the woods. Super dangerous work, made Grandma take up smoking.

So with all of this talk of sawmills, this is a tool for that industry?

How thick is the metal end? Is this a wedge for use when cutting lumber to keep it from binding on the blade?

The iron is usually only on one side of the board, some have little spikes on the metal. Not a wedge. Only used out in the woods.

    Springboard!

I wonder how many men busted their ass working from these things. Those dudes were serious workers. I can't imagine cutting trees by hand all day every day.

    Good one GDF!

    atta babe, Kyle.

Still some reminders out there in our woods.

My Grandad was a tree topper for 3 months, he had to stand on a springboard and top the tree with an ax. Toppers made the most money.
