I just bought a few new books to read on vacation in the Caribbean. "Joker One" about a Marine platoon in Iraq and "Master of War" about the rise and fall of Blackwater. As I was leaving the store I saw they had "I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell" by Tucker Max for half price, so I just had to impulse buy it!
Book of James (in La Biblia) (but the english version, I said it in Spanish to sound intelligent) and Bob Dylan's autobiography, Chronicles. It's a stinkin good read.
The Paschal Supper of the Lamb ... Scott Hahn. If there are any Catholics out there who go to mass out of a sense of obligation and day dream during mass; and cant remember the readings after mass lets out; and feel like they scored some heavenly brownie points by going to mass... (most of us unfortunately). This book's for you. Scott is a protestant minister who converted to Catholicism for his own reasons and is a great apologist (someone who understands and explains the Catholic faith). His book relates the Catholic Mass with the book of revelations. It presents the Catholic faith from a Protestant viewpoint. A great read that will leave you with a better understanding of Faith. A pertinent aside: By the way, If you're a Christian of any kind, there's no reason to convert one way or the other...you're probably on the right track. Christian life is outlined in the Scriptures for all denominations (including Catholics). The fact that people convert from one faith to another reflects an individual calling not an overall endorsement of one denomination over another. I know there's a lot of anti's on both sides out there and if they truly understood, they'd be more open and respectful of each other. We have to remember not to confuse somene's faith with the people who practice that faith poorly.
what do you guys do with books after you read them? i am accumulating so many, i just dont have the space for them. i guess i should throw them away, but i kinda dont want to. do you sell them at the local used book store, box them up and ship them to some awesome used book warehouse that pays good money for them? i dunno what to do with all the damn books i have cluttering up my ****.
I keep the books that I'm likely to read again and the reference books and atlases, ofcourse. Cheap books that I'm never likely to read again, I give to friends or to the LSU Library book bazaar. Now and then, I'll sell a book that's a collectable with some value. Ebay usually.
