What if the Heisman Were Chosen After Bowl Season?

Even if it was chosen after bowl season, it would still be somebody from USC, ND, tOSU, Mich, OU, texas, FSU, or Miami.

 

Not sure how that's true. Each regional section has 145 media votes totaling 870 votes and this despite the larger states within each region having more votes. Former players make up the balance with what is now 54 total votes. One fan a year gets to vote but that's obviously a non-factor.

In addition, the voters are required to make a 1st (3 points), 2nd (2 points), and 3rd (1 point) selection to remove any favoritism. If anything, teams from the West are at a disadvantage with games starting and ending way past East Coast bed times. Were it not for the nationally televised and overhyped games between USC and nd, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart may not have won.

The South's current representative for selecting voters is Jimmie McDowell of Mississippi Sports. Maybe he should be replaced?

 

I think last year when UT beat USC for the championship, I don't know how Vince Young would NOT have won it after strapping the Longhorns on his back and beating USC. Vince had plenty of claim before that game, and that game put him over IMO. Then he wins Rookie of the Year. Go Vince!

 

Or in the case of this year, the feel-good story of the season (Boise's QB). This year's national title game wouldn't have revealed anyone to be a Heisman candidate.

 

I wish they'd do away with the Heisman and if I was playing for an NC, I definitely wouldn't want the distraction in the time leading up to the game and would want to be with my team. Call me whatever you want, it's horse**** in my book.
