They never made a rule about having to win your conference. Gave the excuse because not all conference champs are decided the same way. If thats the case, Big 11 Ten needs to buy Notre Dame, and Pac 10 needs to pick-up Fresno, Boise, and maybe either BYU or Utah St. Not sure who else the Big East would get though. All champs decided same way, NO TIE BREAKERS. Oh wait, that would resemble a playoff too much.

They changed the BCS to give voters more control, and now the Harris and Coaches polls make up over half the BCS. This makes it almost impossible for a team to tank at the end of the season (03 OU & 01 NU), and to go to the NC despite SOS.

Don't kid yourself. If USC had lost that game against Fresno, They probably would have fell no lower than 2. The Media would have made a big deal about how great Fresno was. After all, they only lost to Oregon by 3. And because the game didn't end until after 1 am central time, half the country didn't see the game so we'd have to take the media's word. You saw the spin job they put on that game as it is. LSU doesn't get enough love in the polls to make me beleive we'll ever jump USC without beating them ourselves.

USC losing may actaully increase Penn State's lead on us in the BCS. This is because USC would fall between LSU and Penn State in the computer rankings, but fall behind them both in the human polls. Beating Georgia may be our only hope of getting to the MNC.

I think the more intriguing prospect is if USC loses to UCLA and falls behind LSU in the human polls, but still makes it to the MNC game and beats Texas. Then you could have LSU #1 in human polls but USC as the BCS title winner (assuming LSU wins its bowl game). An exact reverse of 2003.

USC loses to UCLA, IMO, then Ohio State is gone frome BCS. PSU and UT/T play for MNC, PSU wins,
then we COULD have split NC again since we are above them in both human polls.

Tigers win NC w/o dancing at the dance.:geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
