Agreed. Crime is crime. Accountability is a universal concept, particularly in a "democracy". We should always strive to make the concept a reality.

 

If you think there are not vast, wholesale abuses of the welfare system, you are extremely naive...and plenty of people are only too happy to have handout money as their sole source of income. They live quite happily by disdaining such necessities as insurance, car payments and the like. Their only expenses are liquor, drugs and the cell phone bill.

I didn't say populism = socialism. I inferred populism shares socialistic ideas.
