I agree 100%. It seems like as far back as I can remember, which isn't far compared to some of these guys around here, we had at least one solid LB. Whether it was Gabe Northern (DE/LB), Trev Faulk, Bradie James, Jarvis Green (DE/LB), Lionel Turner, etc. This year, there is no one making any exciting hits or stops in the backfield. This is maybe the most boring and insufficient LB crew we've had yet. I'd like to see Ryan Baker on the field. He's always flying around on special teams making plays. According to Scout, he was a 4-star recruit and runs a 4.6. Give him a shot and see what happens. I knew a co-worker who went to the spring game, and he said that #55 Theriot, was making tackles all over the field. Heck, try him out (that may kill a redshirt though). And the defensive line has been a huge disappointment. I am watching the replay now, and they just flashed up Ricky Jean-Francois' season stats. 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 sack. Are you kidding me? This guy was supposed to be the next Dorsey/1st round draft pick. I think Tyson Jackson has played decent (4.5 sacks), but the past two years, he's been far from spectacular. Alem, as you said, has been the biggest threat. He doesn't get to play near as much as the others, and he had 6 sacks. Why not just start him? Pittman has 30 tackles and 1.5 sacks. I thought with him coming back, we'd be solid for sure. In the replay, LSU is blitzing a lot, but everything is getting picked up. This is in the first half, but still.
FWIW - Troy's QB got rid of the football very quickly all night, similar to what App State did. Marlon Favorite was pushing his blocker(s) into the QB all night. Two more seconds per pass, and that QB would have sore shoulder blades from hitting the deck all night long. Listening on the radio, it's tough to pick up on just how quickly (and accurately) he was throwing. Agreed - that's why they're question marks and not gaping chest wounds. Biggest change is that we're playing all these spread offenses that call for a Chad Jones type of backer. Baker is short, but something tells me he's going to be bidding for playing time and may force one of the upperclassmen to justify their jobs next spring. He's a manimal.
I can back that up. Theriot was noticable in the spring game. Of course, I think both Riley and Cutrera were sidelined with injuries, but still. Every blitz seemed telegraphed. QB picked up on most of them and was able to check down for a quick slant, etc. That little QB they have is good (144 rating or something). He definitely knows how to run the spread offense.
typical waste of bandwidth I call it. good call thanks for the heads up my friend BTW: lefire::geaux::wave:
i rarely drink. Not too tough but I can hold my own round here. Salty knows me. Weve tail gated more than once hope the gumbo is good. i may have a couple of coronas now that I think about it. If the gumbo is REALLY good I'll give you some pointers on how to be a "toughracing guy" too. LOL
i've never met either of you but hope to in the future....who knows, i might be 5'5"/160 or 6'3/255.....either way, i like my chances.... so why don't we knock off the "internet bada$$" routines and get back to football. :thumb:
Great post Red :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux: Yep :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux: This is probably the thing I agree with most :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux: Yep :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux: Yes we are, and I am like you, I love the Tigers too, no matter what, I probably wear purple and gold every day of my life, and when we lose people where I work know I am gonna wear it the next day or to work the next week, there is never a question about it. I know that there are a lot of people who support the Tigers through thick and thin, but there are also some who just wanna moan and groan about anything and everything. I usually try and just ignore those kind of fans. :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
Great post lsufanimiss...yep, certainly was. (I just wanted to use that hand waving dude-never got to yet.)
