A sleeve of golf balls that will be gone in two hours. I mean, I guess I'm not going to be getting it either.
Why not? For instance, who's going to buy a Honda when they can get an american car for free? The lines will be running at full throttle and laid off workers will be put back to work. That goes for all suppliers as well. New hires would be needed to pump out product. It's all good.
would that apply to goods such as autos assembled in the us (such as many toyotas) but owned by a japanese company? or what if i want to buy a toyota because it is what i think is best? how cumbersome is the paperwork to prove where the specific totoya was assembled? japan? usa? canada? protectionism? trade wars? other countries not importing our materials or products to protest causing other sectors to tank? not saying i fully disagree. playing devils advocate here.
what about toyotas assembled in the usa? why discrimate against those factory workers? what about the industries that would be hurt if there was a trade war started because of the "protectionism" of such a plan? wouldnt that be trading off jobs losses from one sector to another?
it was this kind of thinking that got the US automakers in trouble to begin with. they were rewarded for making substandard product with no incentive to change. well until those borders opened up. you dont reward companies artificially for sucking. no soup for you.
I'm trying to stimulate, not perform miracles here. People needing cars will buy from the Big 3. Those wanting other products will buy them. Foreign corps. like Toshiba, etc will just have to take a back seat for a while.
