Or Nick goes home and takes over an (in their minds) underachieving Moutaineer program that hasn't been in the national spotlight, really, since the days of Major Harris. Got It?
Frank Beamer is a man of high personal character and integrity and is an outstanding football coach. He has built a national power in a town that compares favorably to Starkville and on a campus with mediocre athletic facilities. He's also a native of southern Virginia and is solidly entrenched at Tech. I do not think he will leave that job for any job in the country. He's well compensated, has the run of the place and has tons of security.
I don't think Frank Beamer rubs LSU fans the wrong way in the same sense as Tub-o-chit. But it is an issue that we have to consider.
I really think it was classless to back out of the game and he does have to take some responsibility for that but he is still a pretty well respected coach and his teams will never be confused with teams like thug U. I think most people would say Beamer is a fairly classy coach and it would be interesting to see what he could do with the kind of talent available at LSU. Didn't someone post that VT has been to 13 straight Bowl games?
Uh, I don't think so. Dropping LSU just to play USC is a pretty strange thing to do if you're "scared" of tough competition. It was all about playing in the kickoff classic on national TV in what amounted to a home game in Washington DC.
Exactly. And I know Beamer's imput was heavily considered in the decision, but I would think that the AD had the majority of the final choice.
