A decent, legitimate president/commander-in-chief would have replied to Mrs. Johnson: "I deeply regret if anything I said might have added to your pain. I did not intend that." Even if she's wrong on the details of the phone call... LET IT GO. THAT would have been decent. THAT would have been mature. THAT would have been presidential. But Trump is not capable of those things. On top of her grief Mrs. Johnson has now also been placed in a position of fighting for her dignity. SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE DOING THAT right now.
