I wish I could have been there but nope, was at my parents house killing a
1/2 gallon of crown and running up my cell phone minutes with all my friends from Houma/Thibodaux.

The first year I had to give up my season tickets to move to Delaware and we go to the national championship game. It was the only game I was able to go to all year and all I have to say is that I am glad I did not get nearly as drunk as I did for the other sugar bowl.

I remember that I was talking to a friend of mine and as soon as I thought that we might go to the sugar bowl I called up the Hyatt and was able to get the tickets for $400 a piece which included some bull**** buffet before the game. I didn't care as long as my butt was in the seat.

Watched on tv, jumping up and down and screaming most of the night. I drove my dogs crazy.

Then I took every chance I could rubbing Sooner noses in it for all the grief they gave me before the game!

TAF came through. I was a Joe Blow 3 year season ticket holder in the EU cheap seats and TAF got me 2 tickets to the BIG ONE. My pop and I went and had a BLAST!!! I had to drop my tickets the next year because of the new additions to the family made the long trips from DFW pretty tough. I figured that dropping them after the MNC was better than dropping them before...

Yeah and the moron in front of me passed out in the 1st quarter and slept through the ENTIRE GAME. He could have given someone else the ticket and played fool in private. We piled him up with trash.

I was in the band. Couldn't see cr@p, but we could sure as hell hear it. :) I live in New Orleans, and I happened to have the hat that was given to me, and all the band members, from the 2001 Sugar Bowl. Since the football players were in our hotel, the Marriot (across from the Sheraton), I happened to run across Lionel Turner and Michael Clayton, and I had the hat, so they signed it. :):):):):) Still got the hat. Only problem is, I didn't get them to write down the year. :cuss: :cuss:

The OU fans were a pretty rough crowd, but they were surprisingly gracious, at least to me, after the game was over. I ran into a few here and there. They didn't really look like nice people, honestly. They looked pissed off. But they stowed it. They congratulated me and the team. I got nothing but good things to say about OU fans. So kudos to yer fans, peabody. I'm sure there are *********s among them, just like our fans. But who cares, ya know?

Yes I was there and I loved every minute of it....

We sat in the enzone of the friggin' Terrace on the Girod Street end about half way up and were seated close to several OU fans who were all popping off about how great OU's defense was; how LSU wouldn't have 100 yards rushing all night; and OU was there to win its' 8th National Championship. The OU fans around us were not giving LSU much respect at all.

Then Justin Vincent popped OU for 60 plus yards right off the bat and the OU
loudmouths were obviously stunned and they got pretty quiet. Other than a few moments here or there the OU fans were pretty mild by SEC standards and in fact appeared a little intimidated by the LSU crowd. Before the game started, I heard many compliments from OU fans about how much fun they had in N.O. After the game and within a couple of days the OU fans were doing a damn fine imitation of Auburn fans with their whining and creative "we were mistreated by those mean old LSU fans" stories.

Overall, I had a blast and probably drank a couple too many "Dome Foams" but it was worth it. I just hope LSU can do it again. I will definitely be there to do my part. Now where is that "beer guy" when you need him?........
