1. I have won a few bets with people who swore that Cannon's Heisman was in 1958
  2. I've heard that from several other people that met him. It's a shame he got into that counterfeiting mess, but you reap what you sow.
  3. Cannon got a short prison term as did some of the other principles to the counterfeiting operation. One guy whose only crime was passing the bills got 18 years.
  4. A 5 year sentence with 2 1/2 years served does seem rather light. I wonder how much, if any, because of his name & fame?
  5. It was mostly because he cooperated, testified against the others, and was a model prisoner on good behavior. He has never told anybody why, other than to say they were the stupidest bunch of criminals ever.
  6. I was four and watching Bullwinkle, old timer.

  7. Your post caused me to do a little research via Google. Pete Dawkins, a running back from Army won the Heisman in 1958. Billy finished 3rd in the voting. I was surprised at Army's record in 1958. They finished 8-0-1 and were ranked 3rd in the nation.
  8. I was 12 and watching Leave it to Beaver. lol
  9. Army was the one of the winningest teams in college football when there were still student athletes. Deitzel left LSU to go to Army.
