'Welfare Spending Equates to $168 Per Day for Every Household ... www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/welfare-spending-equates...
The requested page could not be found. It is a lie that Welfare accounts for the biggest part of the budget. it ain't even close. Interactive US budget These are more discredited Jeff Sessions phony numbers that he makes up by piling budget items together that do not constitute "welfare." The actual number is $24.77 per day. GOP Trillion Dollar Lie
It still doesn't add up to the biggest expenditure. It's total bullshit. They don't get Medicare unless they paid into it. You are taking about Medicaid, or at least you imagine that you are. I went with the actual budget from the source. Jeff Sessions committee has already admitted that they "adjusted" the real numbers. You can believe in fairly tales all you wish, but you will lose every argument.
There is some legitimacy. The headline is designed to grab the attention of the knee jerk crowd who equates wellfare with Tanf, but if you add Medicaid, and income security the biggest percentage of the budget is going to social spending via those programs. This doesn't capture a number of programs which give various types of assistance to the the poor such as CSBG so if you include all types of government issued personal assistance together, excluding Medicare and Social Security you have the biggest budgetary line item. You would have to do some tinkering to adjust out things like the child and dependent car tax credits, and some other programs which go to Americans above the poverty line. What is complete bull shit is that $168 a day number. This has nothing to do with Sessions adjustments to the Obama baseline. You are obsessed with that. BTW do you have any proof to back up your claim that his adjustments were not valid?
Question. With the economic policy of the current administration. How long will it take to start paying down the nations debt? Till they at least balance the federal budget?
Not sure if serious. There is not one policy from either party that will trim a penny of the debt. We may see some token deficit reduction, but the debt will continue to baloon.
It's both parties fault that we have a deficit. To much borrowing to make up for wasteful spending and, IMO , it comes down to both parties trying to buy votes. 2 billion spent on campaigning for a job that pays 1/4 million a year? That's ridiculous. And every time one party tries to do what's best for the country the other demonizes them. Try to cut spending and your pushing granny off a cliff. Try to lower taxes on businesses and ease regulation so the economy will grow and Your poisoning the planet and only care about the rich. If half the politicians were taken out and shot, the other half might actually start doing what they were sent to do.
