Tiger Stadium would be really empty without the band. Ok, it's true confession time. When I arrived at LSU, I had a full intention of staying a year and transferring. It was 1995. I held onto this until I went to my first game, against Auburn. I was in the student section when our defense tackled their qb in the end zone nearest us, scoring us a safety. Ever since that game, I forgot about every other school!
This is a terrific thread. Non Tigers, like my North Texas alum husband, just don't get it. Being a Tiger is special. And by the way, if you see a guy at the North Texas game wearing a UNT t-shirt (if we get a chance to BUY him one before the game) with an LSU clad wife, Tiger Bait him very loudly please!
If he doesn't get it, I assume he has not been to a home game. Tell him to hold on and enjoy the ride. The band, atmosphere and the ensuring victory will be FANtastic. You have to get him to victory hill for the Fight Song.
He's been to a few home games over the years, and he's the first to tell anyone who wants to listen what a special event LSU football is at Tiger Stadium. He just likes to give me a hard time about being a rabid Tiger fan. For the record, though, I'll be pushing for both of our daughters to go to LSU. That would be the classes of '23 and '27 for them.
When I lived in BR and used to go to the games, one of my favorite parts was watching the band and team come down "The Hill". That thunderous drum beat and rhythm is second to none. However as NT is not a "major" game, I think LM's REAL introduction to Tiger Stadium will be a week later against ASU. NT will be only an appetizer in more ways than one!
I'm probably wrong about the time and I hope someone else with a better knowledge of it comes on and gives you the correct answer, but go on the North end of Tiger Stadium between the PMAC and Tiger Stadium about 11/2 -2hrs before kickoff. The football dressing room entrance is right in the middle of the NEZ and the band entrance is in the NW corner. Get ready to get goose bumped all over!
