1. The only thing relevent to say about this poll IMO is that they should have held off 2 days like they did when FSU and Miami played on a Monday night last year.
Why even have it when two of the higher ranked teams have yet to play their game, stupid. If Va Tech wins out it will be hard to pass them after playing Miami and FSU i the conference championship game, if they do.
  2. Its not neccesarily the polls that matter though, its the BCS ranking, which as we all know, does not always coincide with the other polls.
We just need to be ranked ahead of VT then, unless they are one and we are two.
  3. Haven't we learned that the polls aren't objective??? hehe Just like someone posted earlier, the top 3 teams were picked as darlings last year after the bowl games to be the contenders. The fact that we've played one game was a perfect set-up to make these self-serving pollsters have VT jump us. Because if we had a NORMAL season and were winning, they'd be out easily. Polls serve to stir controversy which is why we will always have them in college football and never have anything settled on the field like every other athletic competetition between two entities on the planet.

as a side joke, if Vandy goes 5-0 before playing us, do they break the top 25??
  4. getting all bent out of shape over this is premature.

since the polls didnt wait for this game this is uncharted territory (at least I guess it is). how will pollsters credit two wins (i pray this is the case for lsu) for one team in one week? i would think the lsu/ut game and this screwy situation gets enough pub to cause the pollsters to have lsu jump vt.

anyway even if lsu gets screwed by this its still premature. the odds of both lsu and vt going undefeated are not great
  5. The odds of anyone going undefeated are not great. Hear that USC fans?
  6. I agree it's really premature to be worried about LSU jumping Virginia Tech specifically. Even if LSU never "jumps" VT, it doesn't mean that VT is destined to finish ahead of us in the BCS. Remember that every point in the polls count now in the BCS. It's no longer a hard No. 3 or No. 4 in the Coaches poll. It matters how close you are to each other in points. LSU is only 12 points behind Virginia Tech. For BCS Standing purposes, that's just about tied.

As far as two games in one week, I'm afraid the voters will forget about the Tennessee game by the end of the week and only see the fact that we played Mississippi State this week. We will have to see.

The glass half-empty says that by the time we are finished wiping the field with Mississippi State, the voters will go, "wow, they can beat a cupcake, who cares!" The glass half-full approach says, "This game against Tennessee is on national television with all of the college football watching" tonight. Whatever happens in this game, good or bad, will leave a lasting impression on the voters. We won't know what happens until next Sunday.
