Sure, i use GoDaddy to host (and used them purchase my domain names) . I code my webpages in HTML, PHP, Javascript. If you want to learn how start with HTML. It's not hard, just takes a little time. If you don't want to code your own site, they have programs that can create it for you, like Wordpress. I've never used it but they seem to be popular and simple to use.
Go with Wordpress, Easy even for a novice to make a decent looking site. You could spend the rest of your life trying to learn to use html and Wordpress does the coding for you. Lots of good free videos on YouTube for helpful instruction
What kind of website are you doing, and what kind of platform are you planning on? I use mediatemple for my hosting. Inexpensive, more than enough bandwidth, up to date Server software, PHP, MySQL, etc.
I used to know enough HTML to get by but all these web hosts have software to get you by. Pretty easy. I would help but I'd rather let Tiga help you first.
