Nah, all the officials knew that was a real possibility two days ago. If they didn't take precautions to get emergency personnel out, then we'll be having another discussion about how stupid our officials are down there. Hopefully, it's just stupid reporters down there trying to stir more crap...
Smart and skilled people can be injured or worse when faced with perilous conditions. We can only trust that they have been briefed on evacuation procedures and only essential personal were left in these areas. Everyone knew that this was a probability, not just a possibility.
Plus, they know that it's a hot button issue because of New Orleans right now, so they might be blowing it out of proportion. Admittedly, though... I didn't even hear the report.
Ok they just had the head guy in charge of the Army Corps Engineer on CNN and what he said was that there does not appear to be a break, but an OVERTOPPING at the repair site. He said they didnt expect this amount of surge so soon and that the water is over the top of the levee. He also said that it appears to already be 2 feet of water but they dont not expect it to rise over 4 feet, if they can get the boats there to fix the overtooping.
I really don't understand why I even bother listening to these reporters. This dumb female reporter on CNN keeps talking about the rain in New Orleans, as if that's the culprit for this breach. Never once has she mentioned the storm surge ... which is the reason for this flooding. Guess I'm stuck on stupid for listening...
