We need to ditch the "Pelini Scheme" and "CO-DCs" after this year..

  1. Hard enough for any of us to tell if the defensive problems are due to the scheme or the players. But I really doubt anyone here can say with any certainty that the 'Co DC's' are the problem. We would have to really have some major insight in the gameplaning to know.

I am not a fan of the 'Co DC's' idea just on my own experience in business. So I just trust that Les will do the right thing.
  2. I'm not saying two coordinators are our problem, I like one person in charge, not a fan of doing something by committee. I wans't in favor of the arrangement from the beginning. I'll trust Miles but I still don't like it, not one bit.

  4. I can't answer this poll because it's flawed. I can't say we should or shouldn't ditch em after this season if the season hasn't played out yet.

    Need more input.

  5. Not that statistics are everything, but...

    2008 -
    Pass Defense - 51 Nationally
    Rush Defense - 28 Nationally
    Total Defense - 32 Nationally

I've see players come and go but in ten years there hasn't been a worse LSU defense on the field. Coincidence? You decide.

  6. Any scheme that puts a slow safety on the other teams fastest player game after game needs to be, if nothing else, tweeked. We have been giving up big plays like this every since Pelini came here.

Saban's hole in his defense was the screen pass and the slot seems to be where the Pelini's is.
  7. How anybody is in favor of the "Pelini" scheme is beyond me.

This scheme doesn't put pressure on the QB at all. It was said earlier that we don't blitz as much as we should to protect a young secondary. Well the best way to protect a young secondary would be to not have them cover so dam long. get pressure on the QB and make him throw the ball a lot sooner than he wants.

Now that brings me to my next point....this scheme doesn't produce turnovers at all either. Getting pressure on a qb is when int's start happening. Now we got lucky in Auburn with a few picks, but their qb is total horsesh!t.

Plus without putting pressure on the qb, this scheme obviously doesn't produce many sacks either. I seem to recall Tebow's jersey looked mighty clean at the end of the game sat night.

This defense has TOTALLY changed since the VT game last year. That game we attacked the hell out of that team. We were in the backfield pretty much all night long. It was so bad they changed their QB halfway thru. We have gone to this zone crap of only rushing 4 and dropping 7 everytime. Now i don't care if we have one DC or 30 DC, just put in a scheme that unleashes absolute hell on an opposing team! Make the other team think they've already lost when they step on the field!

    WE ARE LSU DAMMIT!!!!!!!

  8. AMEN!!
  9. This is my sentiment.

I am leaning that way, but want to see if it can be straightened out first.

If we get lit up by Georgia and Bama, and even someone like Ole Miss, then I say it's time to look for a real DC.

I won't be surprised if things turn completely around though.
  10. I voted "agree", but only because there was no "wait & see how the rest of the season goes" option.

If the defense continues to struggle as it has, a change needs to be made.

However, I expect us to improve tremendously.
