I'll tell you what I'm astonished at. I'm astonished that you actually believe people care about what you think.
Those longing for a return to gorilla ball need to get over it. Not only is it not coming back, but gorilla ball was awful. Think slow pitch softball awful. I agree that going back to the 2010 bats might not be so bad, but college baseball in the 90s was awful. Yeah, I know, LSU dominated the decade. They were the best in a sport that barely resembled baseball.
I think there's too much expense involved in retooling the bats again. They most likely and cost effective solution is to try out the baseballs used by the pros. If the game is still heavily skewed towards pitching after trying the new balls, then it will be time to change the bats again.
Bunting is giving away a precious out and generally a stupid thing to do - especially for a team coming off a season of excellent hitting.
This is 100% correct. Bill James has destroyed this strategy through sabermetrics. There is hardly ever a time when it is smart to play for one run.
From an article on Omaha.com: http://www.omaha.com/article/20130622/CWS/706229867/1001#where-have-all-the-home-runs-gone
Exactly. That's not baseball either. I agree. When a team hitting .243 (UCLA) can make it to the championship series, something ain't right.
Another factoid from that article, for people who say they like these low scoring, close games. Fact: since the CWS moved to the new ballpark, in 41 games, the team leading after 8 innings is 41-0. No 9th inning comebacks, at all.
