It's not like that is an easy thing to do. How many clubs that play small ball score 9 runs? You can't get the lead off man on every inning. You can't lay down a sac bunt every inning. You can't move the guy to third with a sac fly every inning, and you can't get a timely hit every inning. Small ball is a situational offense. When you have a 340 hitter who has never laid down a sac bunt at the plate you put the hit and run on. The correlation for a run is much better for runners at the corners with no outs than it is for runner on second with 1 out. When you need two runs to win, you don't play for one.

Winning the CWS in the dead bat era is a crap shoot, at best. MS State is in the championship series, but I don't think you'll find many people outside of Starkville that believe they're one of the 2 best teams in college baseball. Yet, there they are because they happened to get hot at the right time.
But don't we usually say the same thing about March Madness. You just gotta get hot during that 5 game stretch?
I wonder if PM has commented on the number of bunts that have been laid down today..................let alone since LSU lost out. Pitchers playing defense, always has been an area where lots of mistakes are made. The two teams that play for it all adapted for the environment they had to play in, LSU did not.................not even close.
Sounds like all the football threads, the same clowns with their same bitching when we lose and their same astonishment when i try to explain to them that it's not like was are 3-deep with future NFL Hall of Famers playing 5 year old children I got replies coming, btw.
