Was the talent there? Hell yeah ! unfortunately, in this case, it takes more than talent to win Championships
Yes, it takes heart and a game plan. Neither of which we had. I grade CPM's performance as a 0 out of 10.
Yes we had no plan to beat these clubs. The first one had no offense and we gave them the runs they needed to win. We also played right into their pitching strategy, we did not make them throw strikes.Today we just didn't play the right kind of offense. As said before you can't drive them all out the park you need key hitting and moving guys on the base-pads.
I agree I disagree with this. He discussed, at length, after the game the other night the preparation they put in when trying to deal with Plutko and his high fastball. They were prepared, they just didn't execute. I somewhat agree with this, in that CPM coached the way he has all year, and it's been successful to the tune of a tie for the most wins in school history. And, he's not at fault for the errors created by the team. I agree, but again, that's not a coaching issue. I don't know. I think their demeanors were similar, in that both game in extremely confident. It's just that the 2009 team executed and would not be denied. This team didn't.
Then it comes down to what islstl said about not having the chest. Last year's national player of the year gets five at bats with runners on and goes 0 for 5? The national freshman of the year was lost at the plate for 2 games in Omaha. Basically, 2 position players showed up for the CWS, Katz and Laird. I agree the decision to start Glenn was poor.
Skip had a way of getting his teams to peak at tournament time. Mainieri needs to learn how to do this. This fine team peaked at the end of the season, blundered through the SEC tournament, but hit a brick wall in the CWS.
I sure did enjoy the season and was expecting a better CWS from our Tigers. It's a shame to end it with such disappointment, but at least, the last out went down swinging. Small consolation, but If I can survived that 13/0 football regular season ending with a 0/21 score in the NCG and still be a Tiger Football fan, I'll survive this too. Geaux Tigers, can't wait to see what our 2014 baseball team does.
Indeed so. This could even be observed during the season. He may go lose to McNeese then turn around and have them up to play/beat an SEC contender.
