You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to lsu-i-like again.

How can we judge consistency from one complete game? people forget that Flynn played horribly in last year's bowl game and Russell was the hero.

I'm not ready to annoint Flynn based on one game, I think Russell has more upside but he is being really slow in gettting there, and Perrilloux is supposed to have it all, but I haven't seen him play. I look forward to a three-way competition for QB in the spring.

Did you see the game? Did you see us all year prior to that game? I'm not going to say that Russell definitely shouldn't be our starter, but based on what I saw, Flynn would get first consideration. It's true that we were rested for this game, but nowhere during this season did we have a dominant game against legitimate competition, except under Flynn. Russell deserves consideration, but he would have to show me something.

Flynn didn't look good in the bowl game last year? He has an additional year under his belt, and I don't remember him starting against Iowa. I checked and he attempted 4 passes. That's not much.

Perrilloux is an unknown, but I can't imagine he'd do better than Flynn did against Miami. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Unless he is just obviously the best choice.

Some of you are acting like Flynn being our QB was the only difference in this team & the team we've seen all season & thus the difference had to be him and him alone. That's simply not the case.

To begin the year we had 2 hurricanes during a coaching transition and then we played 11 straight weeks with no breaks. It wasn't just that the team was physically & emotionally tired, but they never got a chance to take a step back & look at things. There was never a point when they could really evaluate the team & make the necessary changes. Les Miles made the right decision giving them plenty of time off before this bowl game because it was exactly what they needed. It allowed everyone to get back to what they are capable of. Our running game was healthy - something JR hasn't had the benefit of for quite a while now & not due to Flynn. Our WRs were playing better - probably a combination of Flynn being QB & the break. Our O-line was dominating the way it should have been - not due to Flynn, although he made them look a little better in a few situations.

    I am.

He did technical and mental things (against the most formidable opponent possible) that JR has never been in any danger of doing, and that I am convinced he will never learn. Besides, it's a lot more difficult for JR to run with his head being up his ass.:hihi:

I would agree that Flynn had the technical & mental aspects down better than JR has shown to.

Given all that, I still find it hard to believe Flynn didn't have a significant impact on the way the team played. Russell was able to do similar things against *much* lesser competition during the course of the season.

I'm not calling for Russell's benching, but if Russell starts next season he should have a much shorter leash. Flynn brings something to the table in being able to scramble that is more valuable than Russell's arm strength. Whether Flynn is able to see the field better than Russell is just speculation, because maybe Russell wasn't able to improve on his weaknesses during the regular season... I guess.

I also think Flynn's ability to run made the offensive line's job twofold easier, in that when there was a blocking breakdown Flynn was able to handle the pressure better and because the defense had to respect Flynn's ability to break off a run if nobody was watching him.

You guys do realize that this thread will probably still be at the top of the board this time next year, don't you?

Point being, no matter what happens there will be an opposing side to this from now on.

I can see it now. Russell starts, throws for 250 yards 2 td's and 1 int in teh first game and there will be some saying "Flynn would have never threw that int, we should put him in."

    Same goes for the opposite.

Uh, I'll be calling for Flynn if Russell and the team looks like they did all season long, no doubt. But if Russell and LSU can dominate, I'm good.
