Go watch his jump offsides again. It was Jefferson who got the snap count wrong. Jefferson was backing up before the ball was snapped. Black went up to him to get the count and was given the wrong answer and Black and Hitt let him know it.
i like how the refs (all sec crew so they were on eastern and central time) just let the washington right tackle jump early like three times on that final drive. the true fire up the bus moment. i used to run a men's basketball league, one night the late game went into 3 OT's and by the 3rd OT the players were killing each other with no whistles. i pulled one of the refs after the game to ask him what was up, he said "my wife works the night shift, i gotta get home, you pay me by the game not the hour." he wasn't invited back. i'm sure the refs had an early flight sunday morning.
Chad Jones should be close to sitting. Then, again, McCray played nearly all year last year and was torched time after time. I don't think it is so much the players on defense as it is the scheme/coaching. Unless we've been lied to, this is a very, very talented team on both sides of the ball. Things aren't clicking... yet. I just hope they start to click before it's too late. If the o-line gets fixed somehow, there is little to worry about on the offense. It's primarily the o-line and defense I'm worried about.
I think we all agree that Miles was not going to TRY to blow Washington out or unleash all of the offense. That explains 31 points (run up middle) and not 55 points (throw 10 more times to Lafell/TT/Dickson). But the defense (and the OL to some degree) still got outplayed. The lack of a pass rush was staggering. Again - I think the coaches have the personnel and expertise to fix this. But Washington does not have a top tier O line. So it's disturbing that Locker (who, at this point, is still not a great passer) can put up 300 plus yards in the air on an LSU defense. Our offense has never been questioned, really. Even last year, offensive points were not hard to get. The questions (the big ones anyway) remain on defense. Vandy is a good test this week. They return a good defense and apparently can score points as well.
i think we can all agree that the team played poorly and instead of admitting it people are trying to justify a poor performance. its ok, one game is just one game. young qbs and new coordinators rarely win 96-0 right away.
Let's see how Jones does this week. I'm not ready to judge him yet. He's in a new world out there at big time college FS. I was surprised he wasn't more of a factor, but maybe that means the LBs are getting there first. And I don't recall Locker going deep a lot.
Steady, brotha. I agree. Was just throwin' CParso a bone for his valid observation that the offense was throttled back a bit to ease them into a long and important season.
i was just messin with you. of course i was being serious, but you are right too. the package installed for this game was put together thinking they could run the ball fairly easily. i think we'll miss big herm some this season.
