There were some good posters in the thread, and if you use the ignore feature you can muddle through a reasonable experience. I just let if go without ignore because I needed the excitement at 3AM watching football. And if you don't get emotional about it, the really negative folks make such azzes of themselves that it just funny. And they're easy to mess with, too. Think of it as sport within the sport! For instance, I was having fun watching the post counts for certain folks go to almost nothing during the second quarter, and then BAM halfway through the third quarter....more posting, and then WHAM - couldn't get a word in edgewise for all the hating going on in the 4th. Go back and review the thread - pretty funny stuff.
Just my .02 cents....what I can't take is the know-it-all complainers that throw up 10 different complaints and when they get one right they act like they know more than the coaches. Just for example: Complaint: Peterson shouldn't be returning kicks....he could get hurt. Reality: Coach's decision to have PP return kicks basically won the game for us. Complaint: Miles shouldn't have called the runs at the end of the game. He should've just taken a knee. Reality: If Miles take a knee at that time the media/fans/players go nuts since we can't actually run the clock out. Complaint: Miles shouldn't have kept Ridley in the game after fumbling. Reality: Murphy already fumbled. Ford has never been in a college game and may blow an assignment or drop the ball. If he was going to run it Ridley was the best choice. He made the right call to run it. He made the right call to give it to Ridley. It's Ridley's responsibility to maintain possession. You could go on and on....
Good riddance. Sure, some won't be happy, but if LSU looks like they are utilizing all of their weapons, producing and playing disciplined football, we will be happy with Miles. In 2007, before injuries set in, he showed us he has balls, going for it on 4th down, fake FG, good defense (until the end). We were all blown away and thought, "Wow, Miles finally gets it. He's still lucky and not great with the clock, but he's working toward ironing out the wrinkles." We win the NC, he gets paid, and we fall into a slump. Maybe it was laziness caused by the pay raise. Maybe it was Herbstreet blowing his chance at moving to Michigan after '07. I don't know. What I do know is that the team looked more well-rounded, and he was shutting a lot of people up in '07. So, it's not like the majority of everyone here (or elsewhere) wants to see him fail. We don't. We want to see good football. Does this mean that LSU will be perfect? Hell no, but this would mean the trends of the past several years of mismanagement and poor coaching be limited as much as possible. The same crap and lack of changes from '08 are still here. Go back and read the concerns after last year's Washington game. A lot of us were called idiots, but we were right about the lack of changes to come and the losses on the horizon, and we are seeing a lot of the same stuff this time around already.
