    Maineiri:

" Aaron Nola was brilliant through the first six
innings, and you have to credit Washington
for finally getting to him in the seventh," said
LSU coach Paul Mainieri . "I don't think it
was necessarily a case of Aaron throwing
bad pitches; Washington just did a nice job
    of stringing together some hits."

"I was very pleased with our offensive
    approach throughout the game," Mainieri
said. "We were aggressive at the plate and
delivered key hits when we needed them.
There was never a sense of panic after
Washington had their big inning; our guys
stayed focused and gave us the cushion we
    needed."

Hard to pick a player of the game last night:

Bregman was 3 for 4 with a walk and scored 2 runs

Laird was 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs and had 1 RBI

Rhymes was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI

Ibarra was 2 for 4 with a walk and hit 3 RBI

Only two LSU hitters didn't get a hit last night: Katz and Jones. But Katz walked twice in five at bats and scored a run. Jones had no walks, was 0 for 4, he scored a run, but only after reaching 1B on a fielders choice that threw Ibarra out at 2B

both Rumbelow and Cotton were perfect throughout the 2.2 innings they pitched, retiring all 8 batters they faced for 8 outs...and they both came into the game in clutch situations (1 out, runners 1st & 2nd for Rumbelow...bases loaded, no outs for Cotton)

I'm guessing the umpire wasn't from the SEC. It sucks when you have to win on your own talent.
