ND is a step-up from Bama, and I expect Saban to take over at ND in the next couple years. Saban was a God here at LSU. He lived in this palatial mansion right south of LSU on Highland Road. He could have stayed at LSU for 10 to 15 years, even if we had never won another SEC Championship, as long as he keep giving us mostly winning seasons that kept us mostly in the Top 25. Nobody here would questioning Saban if he stayed as our coach and LSU had the season we had this year. He couldn't have had a more secure job than the one he had here at LSU. Saban knew this, yet he left. Saban is a thrill-seeker, he likes taking on new challenges.

Also, Saban and everyone else knows that he will never be greater than Bear Bryant if he stays at Bama, but Saban knows if he moves on to another great school like ND, Miami, FSU, Nebraska, Michigan, etc--and takes them back to powerhouse levels like he did at LSU and Bama (at least this one year), he will go down as greater than Bear Bryant in that regard.

Yeah yeah, save the sales pitch for us, we've heard it, buddy.

    No, all of us "wasn't".

Giddy is fine. Just be mindful your surroundings, and not to act so surprised when a bunch of fans on an LSU forum don't share your enthusiasm for CNS.

Not me, I think he finishes his career at Bama but who knows? I just don't seeing his type wanting to start all over again and go through that transitional phase of getting aquainted with locals/regional "Do's and don'ts", having to sell system to players again- which also means cleaning out.

Just my opinion though and could be completely wrong.

ND doesn't have to sell anything to players. They've been absolutely awful recently and are still pulling in top recruiting classes..

If Saban were at ND.. I have to admit it could be impressive.

I agree with this post. Saban lost his wanderlust after the Miami fiasco. He found out that moving on is NOT always a better deal. He wanted the challenge of the NFL, and he was not up to the job. He's mid 50's, find a good place with a good salary, and cruise on into retirement. I think he stays a Bama a long time.

Edit: I was totally wrong about what was going to happen at Miami, I totally missed that one. Both his failure to improve the team, and his bush league exit, and his going to Bama. I was just totally wrong...

I wasn't referring to "Notre Dame" selling, rather, Saban. Any coach has to implement his system and get the players on board. Notre Dame, last year, was a great example of a coach not doing that so well. Not sure what problem is this year as I haven't followed as closely with hurricane power outages, etc. Not trying to argue, just clarify. :thumb:

Don't be so sure about that... he just last december with not even a full year at Bama was thinking about leaving for WVU, and if he loses to UF which we know he will, then happens to drop the Sugar as well, he might bolt for UT, ND, UW or any other program he thinks he could do well.

You could be right. I'll tell you, I wouldn't even wish that possibility on the Tiders! It would just be too cruel. If you think they don't like Franchione for jilting them, could you imagine if Saban bolted!!! I can't even imagine the outrage (RAGE being the operative word!). But, I think he stays at Bama. He is in the big league, in the SEC!

I want Saban to stay at Bama and make them the best team he can so every time we play and beat them whether in our house or theirs... it's that much sweeter.
