I have to concur with LL....it's getting worse. Much worse. The last few FB games I've been to, I've been embarassed on multiple occasions PER GAME by some of our younger drunk-ass fans saying stupid chit. Not Tigerbait or anything ordinary, just dropping F bombs like they had Tourett's Syndrome. What's worse is in some instances, it's people that can't even defend themselves..like the young man I saw cursing an old lady and her husband in Kentucky gear a few years back. We jumped in, but the look on her face crushed me. Can you imagine an 80 year old woman getting cursed out by some young drunk punk in LSU gear? Think of your Grandmother and tell me it doesn't bother you. I think it's getting worse across the SEC too. I don't put things on my autos (like flags and stickers) so that they don't get keyed, smashed windows, broken off mirrors, etc. I've had it happen twice before and I wasn't too pleased. Of course, we still wear our p&g gear and represent, but I don't decorate our car (we do if we're in an RV). But I'll tell you what REALLY pisses me off is when students get after their own alumni. I had three drunk/stoned/tripping students behind me at the Sunday Long Beach State series game (I think it was LBS) 2 years ago and they cursed and groused constantly about how the students were getting ripped out of their tickets by alumni...blah, blah, blah... I finally had enough and quietly turned around and told then to STF up because 1) there were children around and they were making asses of themselves and 2) they were some of the few students there, so does LSU have to eat tickets when the students can't get their sorry asses to the game? When they started getting belligerent, other fans jumped in and and they were stared down. They left shortly after. I was stunned....our own fans going after each other???? Truely a suck LSU moment for me....
congrats to the LSU tigers - LSU fans not all bad To all Tiger fans - Congratulations. You beat my Sooners. No doubt LSU deserves the national championship. Enjoy being national champs. I attended the game in New Orleans and sat on the LSU side on the 50 yard line. I was down on Bourbon Fri. and Sat. night. I met and partied with with some great LSU fans during my stay in the Big Easy. Didn't see one fight. I didn't take offense to things that were said to me regarding my team, my state, OU's loss to KSU or anything else. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. A little jawing never hurt anyone. Everyone there was there to have a good time and watch a good football game which we did. The OU fans that had a problem with LSU fans obviously didn't go to the OU/Flordia State game in Miami in 2001 - now those fans are real AHoles!
I was on bourbon street on the balcony from 11:30 to 4:30 (I know) and we were constantly crowd-watching and everything I saw was pretty good-natured...I didn't see much real rudeness...that's too bad if it's true...I'm sure everyone has their trashballs..
Don't know when you were a student, but I remember hearing that while going to basketball games with my dad when I was around 8 or 10 (20 years ago). That's been done by LSU students for a very long time.
well I was also in NO and went to the game. Every sooner fan i saw I told them good luck. after the game i saw some sooner fans sitting on the ground against a store wall on poydras, and as we walked by they said "congratulations" and we said "thanks good game". but there were two 16 or 15 yr old boys behind us and they were carrying a 40oz beer in hands, they started talking garbage to the sooner folks and i turned around and said "now boys have a little class, and be nice" they both said "we bein' nice. we bein' nice". thank goodness they walked away after that
