No, no, no, you misunderstand. The fictional girl in Red's example. Because, as he said, most of the football players are 18-20 and if they were put in that situation they understandably wouldn't be asking to see an ID.
So can anyone decipher coach speak after that press conference? Audio was awful on the WAFB link but it sounded like Les said approximately nothing other than the drug insinuation was "way left of center." Sounded like he was giving no info on how long people were suspended for - did he confirm suspensions?

A former track athlete works for me. She indicated that she would not be surprised if LSU tested for synthetics. She said it was common for the drug test to be collected in a rapid test cup, prior to being sent to the lab. As a donor, you know what you are positive for when the rapid cup is read in front of you. There are a couple of concerns related to the "leak" about what a player may or may not have tested positive for. The Louisiana state regulations incorporate the federal DOT regulations by reference via SAMSHA. The state regulations are not all that specific, so if you revert to the federal regulations (a common practice in LA), the privacy laws are very clear and very strict about the results of a DS. I'm more familiar with the laws as they relate to the workplace, not as they relate to student athletes. I agree with one of Red's earlier post that the university is obligated to respect the privacy of its students. It is illegal to release the substance that an employee tested positive for to anyone other than the Designated Employer Representative (DER), the employee himself, or the Medical Review Officer (MRO). The last item that causes concern is the turnaround time needed for lab tests to come back. If its for standard marijuana, you would have the lab results back typically in 24-72 hours. Synthetics are run at special testing centers. The specimens are shipped to these secondary labs after testing is complete at the normal DS lab. Between courier and the secondary lab, you can have another 48-96+ hours for results for a synthetic. We don't know when the players were collected, but timing could be an issue if synthetics are on the table. Anyway, this is in my wheelhouse as it related to testing, so thought I would share some info with you guys (and gals).
Haven't read the thread yet after a busy day so not sure if this info is out yet. Someone told me this morning that they got busted for using Spice. I had no idea you could test for that which is why I didn't give it much thought unless they were actually busted using it on campus. That stuff is iffy from what I have heard and I would much rather them smoke actual bud if they are going to smoke something. Just looked it up and there are test for Spice and other products like K2 now.
