Interesting. CNN is reporting their text votes have Palin winning 44% - 21% with the rest undecided. Thats shocking to me.
I wouldn't call the media's opinion completely worthless. They do guide the ignorant. I think we would all be surprised how may people let the talking heads tell them how to think and never bother to take the time to research the issues themselves.
Their research poll had Biden winning 51-36. Not surprised, though I thought they'd have Biden with a greater percentage. The surprising result had CNN saying 84% thought Palin did better than they thought she would. Then you had FOX's text votes giving it to Palin 86-14. Again, not surprising that they had Palin, but not by that much. Of course, no one really wins one of these things, but when you put those numbers together with the pre-conception the MSM fed us; that Biden was going to walk all over her, my impression would be that Palin was the winner.
Both did well, this debate didnt sway anyones opinion, but mine I have greater confidence in Biden, he is pretty good. Palin did well, she stood her ground and she has a pretty good personality imo. But she didnt answer the question directly on alot of issues. She answer around them alot, While Biden was more specific and rebutted alot of her claims. But I was impressed with the way Palin handled herself tonight. I think she was overcoached a bit and it would have served her better to answer the questions tonight. I think Biden won, looking at it objectively if you where looking for answers. But I would have to give Palin an B+ or A- on her performance. I think she did very well on the energy issue of the night, that was her shinning moment to me.
i think if you were leaning gop or dem you were left reassured by your candidate. if you were undecided i think you would have left undecided. neither candidate was overly impressive or overly terrible.
I really hope no one is using the veep debate to decide who they will vote for president, statistically neither of them has more than a slim chance of ever becoming prez (insert bad joke about obama assassination/ mccain's old age here). I'm left leaning, so I think biden "won", but palin was much better than what i thought going in. Her biggest problem, in my opinion was that she may have been overcoached. Almost every time she used a party talking point, biden threw it right back in her face and she couldn't respond. But when she was acctually debating, she more than held her own against seasoned politician biden. As for biden attempting to debate Bush/cheney instead of mccain/palin, I didn't like it, but you can hardly blame the dems for taking pot shots at a very unpopular president and his party.
Palin improved a lot since her interviews and didn't seem quite as "in over her head". Biden had better command of the facts and the issues and made no gaffes. Palin stuck to her script very well, was charming, and has learned the old politicians trick of answering some other question. If one of these two had to assume the presidency, it would be in a time of crisis. I think Biden is made of better stuff than Palin. He won't need to read from the script.
