I tend to not believe when anyone is reported to have run a 4.3 unless there were a bunch of witnesses, it's on tape and it was electronically timed as whenever those guys who supposedly ran that time do it under many eyes and with an electronic clock they end up running a 4.5 or 4.4 tops. Just Like J.V., he ran a 4.5 at the Nike camp and that's what Ill use. If you believed all of those times than Arkansas would have the 15 fastest guys in the country.
Strait Strait timed that 'leap' perfectly. Got just in range and knew to get JV at the ankles was the best shot. Wasting anymore steps or waiting to grab him on the upper body might have resulted in JV being in the endzone. No doubt JV deserved MVP. He spooked OU offensively while the D took care of the other. Strait was all world that night though. He played a great game and never gave up and never was intimidated.

Re: Strait If I remember right, that wasn't an ankle tackle. He wrapped him up at the waist. I may have to go and look at the tape to confirm, but that's how I remember it. On a separate note, Deuce McAllister said after one Saints game where he had a long run that once he breaks free, he looks up at the jumbotron to see if anyone is chasing him, and where he needs to run to. I thought that was a pretty good idea, as it keeps him from having to look back over his shoulder and losing part of his lead.
My apologies to Geekboy. I reviewed the tape and it was clearly a swipe at JVs ankles that knocked him over. I guess what I remembered was the guy hitting Vincent after Strait made the tackle. The excitement inside the dome must have altered my memory. Again, my humble apologies.
with a good offensive line, we may have more than one back that could break single season records. but not during the same year. Saban likes to mix it up, but he also rides a good horse when he finds one. He looks for what wins, not what sets records.
