If you look at the tape he's obviously slowing down on both the Georgia and Oklahoma runs after about 35 yards. He needs to run as many 100 yard dashes as he can this offseason. There is such thing as running out of gas in the middle of a run.. even on the first play of the game. It's probably because he's been either doing long distance running and 40 yard dash types for conditioning.
I would agree that Vincent could improve his long distance speed, but those two long runs, he should have scored on but didn't because he made some rookie mistakes on angles and whatnot.
The thing that makes Vincent so special is that he is the first player since Cecil Collins that possess the ability to take it to the house any time he touches the ball.
Even with the Running Back by Committee system we use, I predict that if he stays the course, Justin Vincent will get a trip to the Downtown Athletic Club (or wherever the Heisman ceremony is held post 911). He is showing flashes of being like the Diesel -- without the Diesel's many other "issues."
I don't think that play would have out done Cannon's run. Cannon's was to win the gameand beat Ole Miss. While JV's was great and would have been better if he scored, the only way that I think that it could out do Cannon's run is if it brought us back to win the game.
Cannon's run was a greater feat than Vincent's, but it occured in a regular season game. I think that because it was the very first play of the NC game, it would be talked about more than Cannon's. JMO.
JV has a great burst of speed and is a legit 4.5 forty guy. Strait is a legit 4.4 forty guy. Some guys are fast with more quickness and others are fast without as much quickness, Like Carl Lewis, he was always behind at 50 yards and ahead at 80-85, it's just their make up. Strait is both fast and quick and did play a damn good game. Strait barely caught him, if he had that Dalton Hilliard thing he could have leaned his back back a little and high stepped it into the endzone, of course it has to be timed perfectly. That is when I knew Dalton was going to be so special, when he broke that long TD run against Notre Dame and then did it again against Florida his frosh season. Many a great player started immulating him after that and Dion Sanders mad it famous just for flash, but Dalton did it first. Also, all runners are actually slowing up over the final 35 yards of a 100 yard run according to track experts, it's just that the guy that wins is slowing up a little less than the others.
strait is very fast either way justin would of been caught. if justin was a little older that would of been 6.
i think strait is closer to a 4.3 not 4.4. justin runs in the 4.4 area. he ran a 4.33 in high school. but he has put on a lilttle more weight. and i can see that he has slowed a little. but he still has great speed. and is faster then most.
