I disagree that Faulk "lacked power" 84. He could bench 400 pounds as a freshman. Remember what 400 pounds felt like? I know the bar bends from that weight. Anyway, Faulk had this gift of matriculating the ball downfield. He would look terrible and gain 5 yards.

Though Vincent's 87 yard run vs UGA was amazing, Faulk's punt return vs. ND was the most spectacular run I can remember. It was like he had a forcefield around him while he knocked would be tacklers out of the way. I'm going to go watch it again right now. Good question, thanks for the post.

I think Vincent is more comparable to marshall faulk. they both seem to have that special vision and quickness

Faulk was a very good back but he seemed to get slower as he got older, a super all-around back though. Vincent is the real deal. He has a incredible ability to cut while going wide and can stop on a dime. He also has a great bounce move to get to the outside and then a great stiff arm. If he gets stronger, which he will with Moffit, he will be a heisman candidate.

Someone mentioned Cecil above. If this guy had his head on straight, he could have been the greatest rb ever at LSU and right there with the Bo Jacksons and Herschel Walkers of the SEC.
IMO, he was the best player I've ever seen at LSU and I've been a HUGE fan since 1980. That game against Auburn in 97 was unreal. I don't think there has been anyone with talent equal to that dude, to bad he was such a dumb ass.

Hillard, Faulk, Vincent, hmmmmm I 'm just glad they were Tigers!
But there is one thing I will add, have you ever noticed how easy
someone who is really good at something makes it look? All three backs have that quality, makes you think the D isn't any good till you see someone else try to run on them.

    LSWHO's your DADDY???

    FAULK

Faulk was more like DD Vincent is quicker or has more speed then Faulk.

I will never forget Kevin Faulk with tears in his eyes after a semifinal loss at West Monroe. I walked up and said you are great player you have a lot of football in front of you and walked off.

WAAAYYYYYY too earlt to tell. Faulk had success over a long period Vincent is just getting started. Faulf also was a GREAT return man. He beat the University of Houston all by himself some years ago. Vincent does look great for a freshman and his best days should still be ahead of him but he is no Faulk yet.

At this point Vincent is a pure running back.....He is not the double or triple threat that Faulk was. Remember, LSU use to put Faulk in the slot and was very valuable catching the ball out of the backfield. He was a true all-purpose back. And of course one of the all time greats at special teams (return game).

Vincent is better at running the ball already, but we will have to wait to see if he can be just as devastating catching it as well. I hope we see some of that as a new wrinkle in our offense against OU. I don't remember seeing a play designed for Vincent (maybe a screen, that's it).

In reference to the Houston game, it was the fumbles by Faulk that put us in the hole that he helped to dig out of.
So far Vincent has been much better at holding on to the ball.

Vincent is also an excellent receiver, he just has not been needed. With Clayton, Henderson, and Greene, it's hard to justify throwing to a back.

If OK blitzes a lot I think you'll see LSU throwing more to the backs like we did against Arkansas when Mauk dumped it off several times to a back that curled behind a blitzing outside linebacker for nice gains.

I really like Vincent and see a great future with him, but Alley Broussard has huge potential as well. It'll be great to have both of them back there.
