I have a hard time believing that this scenario has any type of significant impact.

Even if they are making a killing now like you say, please give me an example of a common retail style business that can operate for years to come off of a small short term spike in income.

First off it isn't a small spike in business. We are talking potentially 750000-1000000 old vehicles that will be put in the hands of these salvage yards. Their bigger problem will be where do they store all of the parts they will have accumulated. Now you are making speculations that these businessmen won't be able to put together a sound business model to work from into the future. Pure speculation on your part.

Another one of the residual effects has been an 18% spike in preowned automotive sales.

You might want to read the approved list of removable parts. If you read my first post I stated that there would be some attrition. You still need to research the over 2500 industries that will benifit from this program.

Did you also know that 60% of the money that comes from salable parts of an old vehicle come from the engine and drivetrain? Guess what gets destroyed by the dealership? If the parts aren't salvaged within 180 days the car has to be shredded regardless of whether the usable parts have been removed. Small bump for now with scrap metal and the other few commonly used parts and a 60% loss in sustainable business for the long term. Slightly more than speculation.

‘Cash for clunkers’: What happens to the old cars | csmonitor.com

You've got to post links to these numbers...especially ones claiming that a program that requires you to buy a new car is somehow increasing the sale of used cars by 18%.

You'll also notice in that article that it says it costs the dealership $700-$1200 just to remove the fluids from these cars...not to mention how much time is spent by employees just sitting there revving the engine until it dies.

i presented more than enough from actual businesses affected as well as the specific wording of the boondoggle.

doesnt really change any of the problems it creates no matter how many businesses you claim it helps. you clearly dont want to see it for what it is.

but feel free to cite your actual side of the case when your intraweb is restored.

I am not going to educate you, if you want to know the facts on all sides of the topic do the research. That doesn't mean some report from some conservative or liberal news outlet, but rather the agencies that are tracking how it is affecting the economy.

I haven't even begun to discuss all of the people that will be hired to handle the increase in business at the junk yards and dealerships. Thus taking people off of unemployment. Hmmmm

thats what I knew from the beginning but wanted to give you a chance. not even a single quote.

first it was you only post from a phone. second, you did all the research of NONE which you cite. stay out of the debate til you educate yourself, chief.

not some talking points that clearly make little to no impact. reread the hundreds of quotes from the actual businesses affected themselves.

no one in their right mind thinks this is good for the little guy it was supposed to have helped--but you keep on with that reticent research.

you know i also heard once the constitution is not about less government.
