no doubt about it. question is was that an appropriate call given time on clock and 1 possession game?
Sorry guys, but even with the int, LSU did NOTHING with the ball after that point. Yeah, a missed facemask for sure, but still, we would have had to get a TD. I am again very disappointed with the playcalling, and I think THAT, more than the blown calls, led to this loss. Sheppard and Ridley should have gotten more PT. They are difference makers. And even though it actually worked most of the time, I can't believe they ran on 3rd and 4 or 5 several times. Luckily Scott made the runs he needed to make, but that just seemed dumb to me. Late when they had a 3rd and 1 or 2, they ran Ridley RIGHT UP THE MIDDLE, when he has the speed to break it outside. That one did not get the first down. I could go on and on, but it just seems like the handcuffs and dumb playcalling are still a part of this offense. Oh, and I know ALs D is pretty good.
From the beginning of the game, when a ref took away a first down by misspotting the ball, through at least a half dozen non-called holding penalties, an interference call on an uncatchable ball (they picked up the flag when it would have gone our way), the ridiculous flinch call when we picked up a 4th and 1, to the worst case of homer-ism I've ever seen with the non-interception, the refs screwed us for 60 minutes.
just read a recap of the game on si.com and, shocker of all shocks, they didn't mention the horrible call. I sure as hell remember a few weeks ago every single report talked about how LSU only beat Georgia because of a horrible penalty called against UGA.
Do you understand how football works? If they get the interception there it is a completely different story than getting it with 3 minutes left and being down by 9.
And I forgot to mention the helmet to JJ's chest that didn't get called (I thought you couldn't lead with the helmet anymore), or the sack with the guy's hand tangled in Hitt's facemask.
the potential upside is obvious BUT there was far more downside to a missed 2 pt conversion AND tons of time. single point may never have become an issue. 3 pt far more likely to be a problem. just bad decision just like effort to block punt
At the start of the third quarter, I was willing to pony up $100 to Miles if he'd say something about the refs. Now, I'm willing to give twice that. **** Bama and **** Slive and his refs.
