LSU pitcher has been called 5 or 6 times for illegal pitches, has shown good composure so far,.. hope she figures it out, and stays out there, has a cute butt. still 5-3 gophs, top of 7, Tigers last chance
We had company and I missed the call. Was she crow hopping or just not maintaining contact with the ground?
I'm no expert, both I think, sometimes she'd lift her heel and be off the rubber 4 inches or so,.. sometimes crow hop, maybe it's called lunging, don't know,.. obvious calls though. Minnesota wins game one, 5-3,.. play again Saturday, 6:00 ET
An illegal pitch is not maintaining contact with the ground on the stride out. A crow hop involves a “re-planting” of the foot. Using a crow hop, a pitcher can can gain an advantage by getting several feet closer to the plate before releasing so, in theory, it’s like moving the mound closer. I don’t get the maintaining contact as long as it’s all part of the push off/stride motion. Maybe vball or Terry can put forth a theory. It’s the third strike drop rule that kills me though. No one could ever give me a reason why it’s needed.
