Derek Mason OKed this. No wonder he got the axe https://www.outkick.com/vanderbilts...-the-fill-in-kicker-giving-a-halftime-speech/
Off topic, but kind of hilarious that Vandy thinks Mason was the problem with this team. Their talent level is disproportionately low to begin with, and their roster has been limited all season long. So let’s can the coach?
Bottom line, coaches who don't win get fired. It doesn't matter that the school has huge challenges to build a program that can compete in the SEC. Like anywhere else it's win or hit the road. Vanderbilt could be respectable if they devoted the resources to it. Stanford has high academic standards and the put together winning teams in most seasons. Vandy could do the same if they hired a great AD and gave him the money and the power to do whatever is necessary
Stanford also plays in a conference full of schools with high academic standards, so it’s a lot closer to a level playing field.
Maybe they told him he had to give half his schollys to girls and he refused. Something tells me Vandy is jockeying for wokest in the SEC and they need to up the ante, Mizzou nippin at their heels.
Northwestern was ranked and still leading the B10W at (5-1). From a purely competitive standpoint, The ACC and SEC should swap Clemson for Vandy.
