Apparently the only clause written in the contract was that he couldnt accept the Vandy position...the buy out on this contract is VERY small so if another opportunity came along he could seriously entertain it.
Vanderbilt is a coaches graveyard. Malzahn is holding out for a better job. And if Auburn doesn't go on probation and tank next year . . . he'll get one.
Maybe we're not seeing the forest for the trees here. Perhaps the reason that Malzahn is passing up a lucrative offer from Vandy is that if the didley poo hits the fan WRT to the Cam Newton recruiting saga then Chizik will get fired and Malzahn will become the next Auburn coach?
Yeah, I'm sure that will work since Malzahn was the one who convinced Chizik to go after Newton in the first place.
To my knowledge, Sexton doesn't represent Malzahn. Besides, ... AU won't negotiate with Sexton after some of the antics during the Tuberville era. Why do you think Chizik dropped Sexton as his agent prior to accepting the Auburn head coaching position?
Holy Cow look what the cat dragged in. You guys have been absent for awhile. Welcome back !!!! So much to discuss ;-)
I think someone in this thread said it best, Auburn was able to make him the highest paid coordinator now that Cam is coming off the payroll.
