Texas having to face OSU wasn't very inspiring for them and if they knew the game would have mattered they would have put OSU 6 feet under. I am not a fan of Texas, btw.
it showed your argument was invalid that florida had no such game to hang their hat on this year. they didnt need it. their schedule was better than USC's without it. what the hell are you talking about. Im the one who originated the thread making a case for USC.
Sorry, I don't but into that rhetoric at all. Texas was there to prove that they were the bride that was left at the alter. There was plenty of incentive for Texas in that game. Fact is that they got outplayed and if Ohio State had performed in the red zone in the first half it would have been they that buried Texas, not the other way around.
If? thats rhetoric in itself. OSU lost. no moral victories here. IF OSU had beaten an SEC team it woulda been their first.
My mistake tirk. In reading the thread I got a post by bmy mixed up with one of yours. My apologies. The argument is STILL valid. The argument was that USC had an OOC win to hang their hat on. I guess you're calling Florida State a big OOC win? Not sure if that one flies though. I'm sure we'll end up disagreeing on this one. I just find it interesting that the anti-USC bias of so many SEC fans is so strong that they don't see the USC football program for what it is. It's easily the most consistent performer in the last seven years and a program that ALWAYS shows up big in big games. No other program can make that statement and to say that they aren't as deserving or that the body of work isn't as good as the other top teams this year borders on absurd.
No need to get chippy. Look up the records. Ohio State has beaten SEC teams PLENTY of times. It is in bowl games where they haven't earned a victory. BTW, Ohio State's all-time record against Big 12 teams is 28-5. Does that make the Big 12 less of a conference?
I was talking about UF beating Miami. No not a huge win but a win vs a bowl team. no the argument is invalid. UF didnt need an OOC game to hang its hat on. its schedule was STILL better without it. its a very simple concept. many would argue playing in the pac10 and the bride's maid of the big 11 facilitates this consistency. yeah i knew that I just forgot that small detail. 0-9 is it? now that we realize they are as overrated as the big 11, maybe so.
7-9-2 all time against the SEC 0-3 vs Alabama 0-1-1 vs Auburn 0-1 vs Florida 0-1 vs Georgia 3-0 vs Kentucky 1-1-1 vs LSU 0-1 vs Tennessee 3-1 vs Vanderbilt 0-7 in bowl games (all since 1990, has only played SEC in bowl games during that time) 7-2-2 in regular season games: 3-0 vs Kentucky 3-1 vs Vanderbilt 1-0-1 vs LSU 0-0-1 vs Auburn 0-1 vs Alabama So, Ohio State has seven wins all time vs the SEC. Six of those wins are over Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
Let's take away old perennial doormats Kentucky and Vandy (they played them several years ago when they were really really bad). So that's 1-8-2. Ouch.
May as well look at the Big Ten all time vs the SEC. Note, this is adjusted for when SC & Arky actually joined the SEC. 9-13 vs Alabama 3-0 vs Arkansas 3-6-2 vs Auburn 5-9 vs Florida 2-8 vs Georgia 31-24 vs Kentucky 4-7-1 vs LSU 3-0 vs Ole Miss 6-2-1 vs Mississippi St. 1-2 vs South Carolina 5-10 vs Tennessee 17-7-2 vs Vanderbilt
