The operative word here is can which signifies possibility. Any team can beat anyone in the country on a given day. But I won't deny they have a good team that is tough to beat. But are they the best team in the country? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Oklahoma and UF both beat more ranked teams unless i'm mistaken.. BCS got it right this year. :thumb:
You can't definitively say that. You can post whatever opinion you want to post but to say that they can't be the best team in the country is absurd. After the weakness of the Big 12 was exposed I can't say that Florida is definitively the best team in the country. They may be but the fact is that Oklahoma could have closed the door on Florida in the first half if they'd performed in the red zone. The problem with the BCS is that here we are at the end of the season and it's all still speculation. A team gets a trophy and a declaration and that team might be the best team but ultimately it hasn't been proven because at the end of the season it's the two most propped up teams that played.
USC is 3-0 versus end of the year top 10. Oklahoma is 0-2 versus end of the year top 10. How does this prove that the BCS got it right? All personal and conference affiliation/pride set aside.
It put the best (2 most deserving) teams in the national championship game. What was the question again? When the system does its job.. the best team doesn't get left out.
now is the key word. Conferences were a bit different at the time these two were going to BCS CGs. When before the merger, Florida State owned the ACC due to little/no competition. Miami owned the Big East for the same reason (ony not as blatanly obvious). as far as the ACC being a "quality" conference, they're 2-9 in BCS Bowl games. No, that's not a typo. 2 and freaking 9 with one of those wins coming against one of its current members. And maybe its time to re-think our opinions of the Big XII as well. They have had a team in the title game 6 times in 11 seasons. More than any other, so their route there must be fairly easy. When they get there, they are 2-4. Wins are by an average of 7 points Losses by an average of 19 points For some reason though, next year everyone is going to forget about this part, assume OU is worthy, and let them in again after winning the conference without too big of a fight yet again (yeah, Texas is going to blow it, and no one else even matters).
