Central Oklahoma beat Midwestern St who beat Newberry who beat Wingate who beat UNC-Pembroke who beat Jacksonville FL who beat San Diego who beat UC-Davis who beat Portland St who beat Eastern Washington who beat Weber St who beat Cal Poly SLO who beat San Diego St who beat UNLV who beat Arizona St who beat Stanford who beat Oregon St who beat Southern Cal
UGA beat LSU, GT beat UGA What was the score of the LSU / GT game? Ole Miss beat Florida, Bama beat Ole Miss Who won the Flordia / Bama game? Penn State beat Orgeon State, Oregon State beat USC What was the USC / Penn State outcome? LSU beat South Carolina, South Carolina beat Ole Miss and Arkansas how did those two games work out for us? These are just off the top of my head (not looking at schedules to see like opponents) using this year alone. Probably at least half a dozen more examples just in the SEC let alone wholoe country. And this happens all year every year.
geez, you sound like kids trying to prove a point. either prior results are significant or not when forecasting... ...i think i'll just stop beating my head against the wall
I don't think that the SEC has anything on USC when it comes to speed. Not on the line and certainly not in skill positions. USC's safety (Taylor Mays) is 6'3" 228 lbs and runs a 4.28 forty. I don't think the SEC or any othe conference for that matter has EVER seen a safety with his combination of size and speed. After the Ohio State game the biggest adjustment the USC defensive line made at halftime was to stop trying to go mano a mano against the Ohio State offensive line and to use their agility and quickness. Sound a bit like what the LSU defensive line did last year at the MNC game after the first quarter? This speed thing is getting old. The SEC doesn't own the rights to team speed. However, at the top they are at least as good as the top of any other conference for the past three years. Florida wasn't noticeably faster than Oklahoma. They just executed better when the game was on the line.
You're incorrect here. OU beat Big East Champ Cincinnati 52-26, and TCU 35-10. TCU ended up #7 in the final polls. That's right- Big East Champs. Just like LSU had a big win over the ACC Champs last year. It holds the same value. Of OU's 14 games, 9 of them were against bowl teams. They went 7-2 in those nine games with losses to Texas and BCSNC Florida. Pretty impressive. Florida had big OOC wins over FSU, Miami and Hawaii. All 3 went to bowl games. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
That is why a "Mythical National Champion" is so much fun. We get to debate whose the best, 24/7 all year. It never stops. Ain't it great. :rolleye33:
I think you're incorrect here. Florida's secondary WAS noticeably faster than OU's receivers. All night long, the Florida DB's were stuck to OU like glue. You didn't see very many OU receivers running wide open. Bradford made a lot of nice throws, but Florida covered well, and they tackled well. The reason for the SEC's success isn't just speed, and speed only. We have great coaching, great facilities, terrific strength and conditioning programs, and very talented players that come to the SEC to win championships. We play tough, agressive, physical defense. We hit you in the mouth and see if you enjoy the taste. In the SEC, you're going to get popped by someone and get your manhood tested early. Having superior team speed is just 1 component for a championship.
