Do you not remember what happened to them last year? Like I said, it's better to be safe than sorry.

It's easy to judge him from your computer, but who knows what you'd do if put in his shoes.

Different system last year. It's been "tweaked" to put more stock in the polls, remember?

I judged him by his action I saw on TV, not from my computer. :D

    Fake Punt

PAC10 is always fussing about being under rated...and often that is true. If I had a vote, I'd vote 'em #3. I'll bet a lot of midwestern sports writers do too.

Sorry Pete, if it happens it's your own vanity that brought it on.:dis:

    FUSC!

Oh but has it been "tweaked"? I seem to recall there was still talk about Auburn jumping OU cause Auburn has been looking more impressive and blowing opponents our rather than just winning. That tells me that there are pollsters out there looking at margin of victory. Given this fact, I see no problem with what he did. You just don't like it cause of your extreme hatred for USC and everything USC. I don't care too much for USC either, but I am civil enough to see things from other people's standpoints and not just from mine all the time.

If you think USC would fall two spots because of a meaningless TD, then you haven't been paying attention to the love fest that's been going on with them the past 2 years. MOV does not count in the BCS formula, so why do it? I do think it speaks volumes to Pete Carroll's character.

If you want to go for it, fine, man up and go for it. But don't resort to a pu$$y-a$$ fake punt up by 24 with 7:00 to play. That's what I take exception too. No offense to you or anything. We just agree to disagree.

Let me put it like this. With the three way "log jam" (Auburn, USC, and OU) there are still voters for the AP poll out there that think Auburn is the best team in the country. People have been asking why USC should be exempt from the discussion about who should be in the title game. They point to the fact that USC struggled with some teams this year. Say OU and USC play in the Orange Bowl and USC wins. Some AP voter may remember some of USC struggles and vote Auburn the Ap winner and therefor a split championship again. Pete wanted there to be no doubt in voters minds that they deserve to be in the title game. He was just playing on what he has been hearing about his team in the media.

I understand your point, I really do. But I stand by what I said earlier. If you want to go for another score in that situation, then be a man and go for it. You'll get a lot more respect doing it this way then resorting to the trickery of a fake punt.

Yeah, I guess that's what he felt gave him the best chance of getting a first down at the time. I'm just glad I don't have to make those decisions.
