Excellent! You have correctly identified what the NCAA considers a secondary violation, when the player isn't aware that they are committing an infraction.

This is true, but USC just crossed this bridge last year with recruits going to Mr. H.R.PuffanDakilis's(Sp.lol) restaurant and meeting him, and being wined and dined by him. (He is a former USC player) This was USC's slap on the wrist and Carroll was made aware of this situation. :thumb:

Now less than a year later Carroll is involved in the same situation (ex-players) having contact with recruits. Carroll has no option but to deny these allegations since he has already received his wrist slap.

Sad that this situation now forces an apparently fine upstanding young man to have to start his college career pretending he is too stupid too recall wether he spoke to Reggie or not. Or worse, starting his career having to lie for his head coach. :angryfire

You will never convince this Tiger Fan, that a kid was MISTAKEN THAT HE ACTUALY SPOKE TO THE GREAT REGGIE BUSH!:nope:

The NZAA has handed down sanction against USC already.
Results: Alabama got a one year bowl ban and USC doesn't have to play anyone from the SEC should they make it to the BCSCG.

First of all, the entire Papadakis restaurant story was a total and complete smoke screen by insecure tejas fans hoping for some penalty. Needless on their part as Vince Young clearly showed up our D to win the NC. Just because the man owns the restaurant, doesn't mean he talks to or encourages recruits. He has been a part of USC football for years, is on the sideline for almost all games, and isn't going anywhere. Former players are going to be around just as they are in Death Valley. You suppose Russell won't be coming back some day? He should and he shouldn't have to have tape over his mouth just because of who he is.

I also don't think JM should lie. I would rather get the entire story out and dealt with so that our program isn't maligned any further. It's understandable that people see our inability to handle the little things and then apply that belief to our inability to handle the big things. Doesn't make it so but appearances are tough to change.

As a native Californian I can assure you there is NO single stereotype. Northern California is as close to the former Kremlin as you can get. Need I remind you this is the home of Nancy Pelosi? Many of us in Southern California wouldn't mind if the state were split in two. I'm sure the negative stereotypes you refer to are created by the superficial universe known as hollywierd. But, most of those in hollywierd came from other states and it pains me to point this out but it is LA native Brittney Spears who is the real trend setter out here lately with the "no panties" look.

Can we play nice now? :)

USC is told of possible recruiting violations

Reporters from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and CBS Sportsline have told the USC football team has of potential recruiting violations stemming from visits by USC recruits to Papadakis Taverna, a Greek restaurant in San Pedro, Calif., owned by former USC linebacker John Papadakis.
The infractions are two-fold, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, in that --during visits to his restaurant-- Papadakis gives lengthy, impassioned speeches to the tables of recruits about USC football. As a former player, Papadakis is considered "a 'representative of athletics interests' by the NCAA and is prohibited from speaking to recruits about the Trojans."

Smoke screen? Maybe, but this clearly shows that Pete is well aware of inapropriate player contact and his need to DENY Joe McKnight's version of their meeting.

If this turns out to be true, USC"s problem now is the fact that Pete lied, and not that there was some innocent contact with a potential recruit.

BTW: Is that you in the red dress on WebMaster Bob's Sig?

If so, never mind everything I have said here!!!!!!!!! :D
