Negative recruiting is a reality whether anyone likes it or not. I didn't make the comment to point out flaws but rather to highlight that the rules make little sense considering the current recruiting environment. Better check the thread titles on this forum lately. There are plenty of accusations against Saban and Meyer to name a few. I don't think that equates to a lack of confidence by Tiger fans.

Yes, the information about the RB situation has been in the news but who better than another coach to add legitimacy to the situation? James Wilson confirmed that he heard the spin from Urban and it contributed to his decision to de-commit from SC and go to Florida. Jordan Campbell confirmed that he heard the same thing from Belotti. You think the top rated player in the country didn't hear it?

All in all, not a great day for SC and a damper on the recruiting process in general.

You're a class act, and I hope that the posters of this forum don't follow the Bama posters lead. I hope they realize that you are just a loyal fan of your chosen program, and have absolutely nothing to do with the ethics and recruiting methods of your schools coach.
The Bama fans are killing LSU fans over what our coach said, and I'm sure LSU fans did the same to them concerning Saban.
In the immortal words of Rodney King, can't we all just get along???:dis:

This situation does not seem that serious on it's face, it just makes me wonder what else Carroll has done with respect to recruiting. He is supremely arrogant and knows he sits as a king. I can definitely see him believing he is beyond reproach. And if he starts to NOT believe it, all he has to do is read his press clippings. Mark my words. USC will get sheilded by a the NCAA.

In all fairness, much of PC's recruiting efforts are already done. Win games, play for NC's, be on TV every week, play for coaches with NFL experience to help prepare you for the next level, compete against other top recruits at practice week in and week out, enjoy all the things that make Southern California a great place to be.

How is he arrogant? After the Rose Bowl, he said we didn't deserve to be in the NC game because we blew it against utla. He's hardly a self annointed king who sees himself above reproach. Players routinely talk about him being a "players coach". They enjoy the experience. It's not for everyone but it doesn't equate to arrogance. He's not God with a headphone, he's just a guy who happens to love his job. I envy that.

We're really in a no-win situation here. If something results from this story, then most of the CF world will rejoice. If USC finds nothing wrong, we'll be accused of sweeping things under the rug. If the NCAA does nothing, they'll be accused of ignoring it and SC will be looked at as though we got away with something. Any way you slice it, any joy over a good recruiting class has been greatly reduced.

Think about it. McKnight told the TRUTH. He is being forced now to lie. I have no problems with any post I've ever read from you, and personally LOVE your avatar. BUT, I am a graduate of JCCS, and I don't think you should throw out things like that. Of all the people affected by this, there is only one "victim", Joe McKnight. He tried to do the right things, let a truth slip out not knowing it was a bad thing, and now all hades has broken out. Luther Davis lied, Joe McKnight is a far different case. How would you like to be him today, worried to death that his HONEST mistake may cause his college choice to be placed on probation at most, placed under extreme scrutiny and embarassment at the least.

He cooperates with the NZAA and USC gets the hammer dropped. In return, he gets to transfer to Kansas and doesn't have to sit out a year.

    No, wait. . .
