For the phone violation, probably nothing. If they find that Bush accepted money, he plays for a team that's on probation and has scholarships limited for 'x' amount of time.

I suppose they could be right but it would more a result of luck than anything else. Really, shows like ATH, PTI, and Cold Pizza are simply the Entertainment Tonight of sports shows. It makes for interesting TV to salivate over violations, penalties, etc. In a nutshell, they're doing their job but it doesn't qualify as good resource material.

On another note, you think Tamba Hali was just talking about the weather?

I'll get blasted I'm sure but I'm just wondering why it is okay for coaches to fill a recruit's ear with talk of possible violations and sanctions (despite the lack of any evidence on their part) and then not allow the recruit the opportunity to research or clarify the info he's getting? I'm not even saying Miles did this but I can tell you of at least 2 other coaches who did use this tactic with JM. Why would it even be a concern on JM's part if he wasn't hearing it from somebody?

Miles doesn't negative recruit. He doesn't have to. He's the coach at LSU.

I agree nothing major will come out of this unless they come to some conclusion that there is lack of control at USC and tie the recruiting in with the Bush story. But that is not going to happen and probably get swept under the rug with a minor violation.

On PTI, they have already got the ball rolling by saying that Bush just needs to stay away from the program for awhile basically implying that Bush was to blame. If USC is not careful and decide to cut all ties with Bush yet again watch out for Bush laying it to USC. I am not saying that this will happen but Bush could have some very damaging stories he could release to the media and start a frenzy.

Every PTI guy was saying stuff will happen. If it was just the Reggie/McKnight connection it would be one thing. But you pile this on with all the other stuff.....bad (good in our eyes) things can happen.

I love the irony in this. In order to convince McKnight that nothing will come of the current USC NCAA violation, USC commits an NCAA recruiting violation.

I don't think negative recruiting is right in any circumstance. If you have to point out someone else's flaws, then it only exposes your own lack of confidence in your own self (or in this case your own program).

However, where would Joe be hearing about possible probation and the such?

It's been in the news. Reggie plays for the Saints, and I live in New Orleans, and trust me. Anytime Reggie's name comes up with USC and the possible funds his family got, it's talked about down here. So it is pretty easy for him to hear about that. Also, any high school coach worth his salt would inform his player of a possible probation situation with a school he likes. J.T. Curtis said they thought about it, and they were satisfied.

So it looks like Pete Carroll did commit a violation. There's no reason for Joe to make up that Pete called Reggie and they listened as Reggie assured them he did nothing wrong.

Are you talking about Around the Horn because PTI just has Wilbon and Kornheiser? I just finished watching the show and Kornheiser was the one that basically blamed Bush and Wilbon said no big deal about the situation.:thumb:
