It's too bad USC played of all teams in the SEC...Auburn this year. Which turns out #2 to the worst underachiving team in the SEC right behind Miss St. They really made the SEC look bad this year. I think any SEC team would've given USC all they wanted. Even Miss St was playing better in the beginning of the year. I think LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Ole Miss would be USC pretty bad if they played. I don't think the Pac 10 is anywhere near the qulity per team as the top 5 or 6 in the SEC. We have our work cut out for us as beating Georgia and Florida will not be an easy task but if we can do it we deserve to be #2.
The only reason USC is ahead of us is b/c we both have 1 loss, and they were ranked higher than us. It is very hard to jump over a BCS conference team once both teams have the same amount of losses and are both ranked in the top 5. Let's be completely honest, all of this is very close to what Spurrier used to bitch about. The SEC has very few easy wins, and most voters feel the SEC teams will cut themselves down. No one in the country is worried about USC losing to ORE St, however most thought LSU would lose to either Ole Miss or Ark (clearing up the #2, #3 thing). The difference between the #1 team in the SEC and #6 team in the SEC is very small, yet there is a world of difference between #1 and #6 in the PAC 10. That said, I still feel we will pass USC when it is all over with. The voters won't ignore the SEC title game, nor the fact we beat Ole Miss at #15 and Ark at #24 late in the season. It's not really the same thing, but USC will be in the Oregon position of being a strong team in a weak conference who feels they got screwed by the voters bias for favoring teams in stronger conferences.
Email these stats to as many AP voters you can: 1. BCS poll (only ranks top 25) -- LSU has played the #7,#11,#18 and #24 (beat 7,18, 24). SECCG will pit LSU against another top 10 BCS opponent. USC has played the #15 and no one else. 2. ESPN/Coaches Poll (only ranks top 43) -- LSU has played #5,#11,#19, and #29 (beat 5,19,29). SECCG will be against a top 10 team. USC has played #14 and no one else in top 43! 3. AP poll (ranks top 37) -- LSU has played #5,#11,#17, and #26 (beat 5,17,26). SECCG again will be against top 10 team. USC played #16 and no one else in the top 37!. 4. LSU's only loss to #11 Florida. 5. USC's only loss to unranked 7-6 Cal. 6. Despite playing W. Illinois, which does not count, and 1-11 ULM, LSU's SoS will still be much strong than USC's in two weeks! Throw out those two teams from LSU's SoS, and it's not even close! 7. LSU average margin over victory is about 25 points per game. USC's average margin of victory is about 23 points per game. So much for the media and USC fans saying that USC blows out the competition while LSU isn't nearly as impressive in wins.
