Truth of the matter is that you knew that this was going to happen. There were times in the first half where you could see that Ohio State could move the ball on 'SC but their psyche was so fragile and insecure that once the steam roll started, there was no coming back. Of course the media will say no Wells, and yes, OSU could run the tables in the Big 10, but like Va Tech last year against LSU (i.e. humiliating loss) this early season loss will sting OSU in late season polls... so, sorry Buckeye nation, not going to sneak in again this year with this performance. But, 'SC's fortunes have never been about their schedule or the big game like this one, but the SMALL game. Will 'SC trip up and lose to a Stanford this year? This year, probably not, but that's the question. Sanchez is solid (not like that Booty kid) and the rest of the team is just too damn talented. When UCLA gets spanked by 59, a ranked Cal loses, Washington gets hammered, and Oregon barely wins, it's a good thing that 'SC killed OSU. This is the game that voters will remember, b/c the Pac10 is not very good. So the stage is set. The Trojans control their destiny and the voters are either going to put the Big 12 or SEC champ in the NCG against the Trojans. Right now, the SEC looks a little rusty but by end of the year, that team will be better tested than the rest. :geauxtige
Maybe Ohio State would make a fine 1-AA school and could compete against App State and teams like that. That would be a more realistic scenario for their fanbase. They billed that crap last night as 'Game Of The Century?' That didn't even qualify for game of the week and probably should have been carried by Raycom.
They (OSU) are what they look like they are. I have maintained this for over two years now. Tosu is a weak team and the Big Ten is a joke. The movement in CFB should be to get the Big Ten out of the "automatic bid" in the BCS. IMO, the four teams in the SEC and Big 12 championship games are far more deserving than the Big Ten and ACC Champs. Purdue, Michigan, Tosu all got schooled yesterday. Illinois beat my hometown Ragin Cajuns (a very bad football team) by only three points. The Big Ten is (once again) pathetic.
I agree completely. I think Tosu should fall to the 17-20 range. I watched the Miss St/AU game. LSU should win that game and easily. Auburn is horrible.
To me, it's not how good USC is, but how bad the gameplans have been for OSU when they play top notch opponents. USC did not look any better than FLA or LSU have in the past two years. OSU needs new off. and def. coordinators to bring them into the 21st century of football. In a word, they need to be more aggressive in play calling on both sides of the ball. And, they don't learn from past mistakes; much of USCs play calling last night were plays that worked in the FLA and LSU games the last two years. I am sure many of you recognized the tight end coming off the weakside left and being wide open for a TD last night, much like what LSU did last year. USC is a really good team, no doubt, but will be put on a pedestal until they play someone a little more formiddable. OSU was overranked, once again, and that will lead to USC being overhyped with this dominant win. Maybe USC will be upended by one of their weak Pac-10 opponents. The sad thing for OSU fans, is that everyone last year was saying how they felt blessed OSU was even there at the end of the year in the NC game since everyone felt they were one year away from their best team; this was supposed to be the year. Until they get new coordinators with more aggressive mindsets, they will not return to elite status. Their psyche has obviously taken a hit, too. I like how LSU is flying under the radar right now. However, we need to get more consistent QB play and better efforts in our kicking game to be there at the end for the NC game again.
I agree. The Condom/Sooner media buildup will probably begin during next Thursday's ESPN pre-game show, interrupted only by Granny Holtz's gushing over the (in his mind) resurgent Irish..
