USC I believe has as strong a case as Bama and maybe even tOSU.. USC 11-2 PAC-12 Champs Big Wins: #14 Stanford 42-24, #22 Arizona 49-35, #12 Stanford 31-28 The Losses: #16 Washington State 30-27, #13 Notre Dame 49-14 Had a ton of losses along their offensive line. It was as bad as our situation at times even worse. One blowout loss to Notre Dame, but both losses were to ranked teams in the Top 25. Both losses on the road. Ohio State 11-2 Big 10 Champs Big Wins: #2 Penn State 39-38, #12 Michigan State 48-3, #4 Wisconsin 27-21 The Losses: #5 Oklahoma 31-18, Iowa 55-24 Narrow wins against similar competition in Whisky and PSU, blowout loss at an average at best Iowa team, bad loss at home to OU. Alabama 10-1 No Championship Big Wins: #19 LSU 24-10, #16 Mississippi State 31-24, #3 Florida State 24-7 The Losses: #6 Auburn 26-14 The wins are sketchy as they should have lost to Moo U late, FSU was a strong team but lost its starting QB (Clemson got a pass for losing Kelly Bryant against Syracuse which doesn't explain how they gave up 500 yards defensively, but whatever) and then tanked hard. LSU is the signature win. Auburn was a game they were dominated in physically if not blown out. Moo U and LSU also physically handled Bama in their two games as well. A bad A&M team hung around also. Got a hard time with that Iowa loss for tOSU. Bama's schedule was about as weak as Wisconsin's before the Iron Bowl happened. However, Bama and USC only lost to ranked teams. tOSU and Iowa.. is just so bad. So who you got between the three?
Well, I can't get past tOSU's very bad loss to Iowa. And you have BAMA at 10-2, but they are 11-1. Also Ohio State loses to Iowa, Clemson to Syracuse, and Miami to Pitt, but Alabama’s loss to Auburn is disqualifying? No way. Plus, tOSU got in last year the way BAMA wants to get in this year. If the committee is consistent, then they need to put BAMA in. Unfortunately.
Bama should be out. They didn't win their division, much less the conference championship. It should be 1. Georgia 2. Clemson 3. OU 4. USC or OSU I would rank Bama #6. The season has to mean something. There's too much subjectivity in picking the four "best" teams. Pick from conference champions.
Best thing for everyone is for them to be "inconsistent" and then we move to an 8 team playoff. Move to 6 super conferences, 6 automatic spots and 2 wild-cards.
