Im okay with number six.. honestly I think it's a good place to start...who cares is fat phil starts out ahead of us??? let him feed his ego, then when he doesnt meet expectations they can be mad at him :-D
You're hoping. Teams ranked #2 or #3 losing tight games never drop far, sometimes not even out of the Top 5. The AP poll may have LSU as high as #8. There's no guarantee that LSU will move ahead of a #2 or #3 Tennessee in a tight win in both polls. LSU needs to serve notice & kick the crap out of Fat Phil & his overrated Rocky Top convicts.
I'm okay with the #6 spot, but I'm very much not okay with Texas at #2. Sure, they have great talent, but to start that high is absurd. Given last year's debacle in which two teams went wire to wire ranked 1 and 2, giving Auburn the shaft, how on earth do you put a Texas team that has won exactly one conference divisional and one conference championship in the last 9 years---and this happened 9 years ago---in the catbird's seat which is a top 2 ranking. Not only is Texas #2 here, but they are a #2 by a comfortable margin. Therefore, we should root hard for Ohio State on Sept 10 and for Tennessee a week later. If this happens and LSU is undefeated on the morning of September 25, I think they'll be strong contenders for the #2 spot the following week. Luckily, there are more elements to the BCS than this one poll, but the voters of these polls need to think really hard about who they slot in the top two of their polls, especially in the early season or preseason polls...except for the AP, who can do what they damn well please from now on, for all I care.
Texas gets the accolades because of one thing and that's great recruiting. These media clowns keep thinking "This year, Texas has just got to beat OU". UT will probably drop two games this year & probably lose to OU again. I agree with you. This sucks. In my opinion, Texas deserves to be no higher than #4 or #5 until they prove they can beat OU. Also, WHAT GIVES MI A #4 ranking? It's the Big 10 preseason Media Blitz, just like the fat phil sec lovefest. Both Overrated!!! :dis:
I think Tenn is well deserved of their high praise. They have a killer defense coming back, finally have some good WR's, and have a very talented stable of running backs... Also, why is it that when anyone is ranked above LSU, they become a "media darling." Is that now the hip thing to do? Anyone that is ranked ahead of LSU is because of media bias? It seems someone says this every day...
i think so too but that attrition in the offseason may catch up to them. Im not nearly as high on riggs as the media seems to be but his dad's name carries some weight. he's good but he's not 'LSU RB' good. not even close from what ive seen. i do like ainge a lot and think he could be the difference. whens the last time a true frosh threw for 60% completion or something close. hes pretty impressive.
I think they are somewhat fair rankings to start a season that no team has played yet and it is at best only a guess. If LSU is going to do something this year and play for a National Title they just need to go out and win one game at a time and see what happens, things will take care of themselves. The hardest task would be for LSU to go undefeated, I hope and think we can but I also understand it just may not happen. We play some really good football teams this year, and if we can make it through the regular season without a loss we still must play the extra SECCG.........Wow I think this is going to be a fun year of football. :geauxtige LSU!
Yea, I sure hope so. But did U notice while we play 5 ranked teams, they only play 2. and Ar. St and Cal are both ranked in bottem 10 of poll. With a scedule like that it will be hard for them to lose :geauxtige :geauxtige
I am very pleased with the ranking so far and I thing that we are in an excellent postition. Let's stop with the complainging that the media world is out to get LSU and that we'll never catch a fair break. That's crap. And as for Tenn "barely" winning a few of their games last year, I don't exactly remember us blowing teams out of the water. We needed a miracle to beat a slightly above agerage Oregon State team and we had far more trouble than we should have had against Troy. If we win out, which will be incredibly difficult, we WILL be in the Rose Bowl. I'm sorry to all the AU fans for that bold prediction, but there is no way in hell a team from the SEC goes undefeated two years in a row and doesn't get represented in the title game. We should all be happy that phil and his criminals are getting so much respect. It will only be that much better if we happen to beat them. I have a very good feeling about this season and I'm just going to have to try and contain myself till opening kickoff against NT. Geaux Tigers!
