Foley gets himself an Oscar Meyer Weiner ... NBFD with this guy

    Urban Meyer .... ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh

Let's shudder altogether at once ... give me a friggin' break. :dis:

The "usual suspects" on this forum ... Lipschitz, Dirkakus and Howe ... are trumpeting the call and want you all trembling in fear ... give me a friggin' break

You Sporting News "blinded" homers can blow the bugle all you want ...

Urban Meyer is an Earle Bruce Big 10 homer ... and before you knit-wits ... the usual suspects ... go comparing this child coach to Saban (with Big 10 experience also)

look for this rookie's NFL experience ... :dis: ... NADA

look for this rookie's real Defensive experience ... :dis: ... NADA

WTF ... No real defensive experience ... :hihi:

    N.......................o
    B.......................ig
    F.......................uggin'
    D.......................eal ... with this guy

Unless Florida gets Stoops back to coach and recruit Defensively ... it's gonna get ugly for this rookie early in Gainesville

... He's nothing more than a glorified receiver's coach early

... Those gator alumni are gonna skin this poor bastid alive ... wait and see

Look at Urban Meyer closely ... He's a big fish now in a very small pond ... Headed for a gator hole in Gainesville

... can you say the words

    ~S~E~C~ ~R~O~O~K~I~E~ ~D~E~V~O~U~R~E~D~ ~W~H~O~L~E~

An amusing link for the "usual suspects" http://utahutes.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/meyer_urban00.html

Once, Nick Saban was 9-2 with Toledo...Jim Tressell was undefeated at Youngstown State...Jim Donnan was undefeated at I-AA Marshall...Dennis Franchione was a powerhouse at Toledo and TCU...

They all start out small...but Utah is legitimate...Alex Smith was THIRD STRING UPON MEYER'S ARRIVAL, and he was STILL THIRD TEAM after the first spring...People are saying now he may be the best player in the NCAA...I don't give that much water, but one of the best, yes...I agree with that statement...

Their legitimate because of their offensive system. Their system is so complex and difficult that they roll over inferior competition, and have also beaten some decent teams along the way.

You plug a system like that into a conference like the SEC and athletes like the ones at Florida, then it spells trouble...As long as you can find players who can operate that system, then you have to think this guy will translate it into on the field results. Who are the least successful coaches the past few years in the SEC?

Sheryl? Who else, really? Cut had Ole Mrs. in a bowl game and led them to bowl wins over both Nebraska and a 10-win season and recruited like crazy! Houston Nutt? I think we all agree he's an excellent coach with not a lot of talent to work with...Tuberville? Scratch that after his success this year...Shula? The jury's out...

Mike Price had a fiasco, but it's obvious from his results at UTEP the guy would have won football games at Alabama. Guy Morris left UK for the greener pastures of...Baylor (Read between the Dollar $igns on that one)...

What of the East? Vanderbilt is a coaching doldrum...We already talked about Kentucky (and I think Brooks was a bad hire because of his age, and the area he recruits from)...Lou Holtz had back to back 8-4 seasons and identical bowl victories over Ohio State in his 2nd & 3rd years...and again, I think he lost his mental edge later in his career...

Fulmer is a former national championship winning head coach, and perenially has UT in the Top 10-deserved or not. Same with Spurrier, and though he hasn't won a title, Richt can have the perennial Top 10 tag attached.

The only guy that really did just fall on his face that wasn't just tired, old, or in a sh!tty job like Vandy or Kentucky has been Zook, and even he won!

Meyer will win...and I'll bet he'll win at the same or better clip than did Zook...Zook competed against LSU & Tennessee, and lost close games...He defeated Bowden at Doak Walker, which Spurrier never did...Meyer may not recruit as well, but being his own offensive coordinator will sharpen the results on that side of the ball.

The real question will be how his players react to him coming in after showing such respect for Zook, and how Leak will react to his third offensive coordinator in three years in the Swamp...

Steve Spurrier had all kinds of NFL coaching experience (Does USFL count to you now, Ramah?), right Obi-Wan Ramahnobi?

So did Phil Fulmer...He had L-o-a-d-s of NFL experience, right?

Mark Richt had scads of League experience, right?

What do all of these successful, SEC Championship winning, and in the case of 2/3, National Championship winning SEC Head coaches have in common?

Not a lick of legitimate NFL or "legitimate" defensive experience...

As usual...The tape breaker-downer non-booster South Louisiana Saudi Sultan of (Bull)Sh!t breaks wind with some more mental flatulence...

philter, you clearly missed my point. I'm not questioning or comparing the talent levels Meyer will have to work with, I'm questioning Meyer's offensive system and it's ability to effectively utilize those assets.

IMO, the particular system Meyer promotes is suspect against speed off of the corners. The sophisticated 4-3 defenses common in the SEC will be a new experience for Meyer's system.

The question becomes, "can Meyer make the adjustment in his first season?"
