What about losing those points for the first time you play (for example, if you come in week 3 you lose 10 points that first time). You aren't rewarding people for their picks then anymore... It becomes impossible for any latecomers to win under that system.
I see what you are saying, however, it creates an incentive not to miss any weeks. I agree, it will be hard for latecomers to win, which is why if you want to play you should start sooner rather than later.
